In a heart-stopping playoff matchup, the Jackson Aggies held on to defeat the Booker T. Washington Golden Eagles 24-21. The game was decided by a late touchdown pass from Aggies quarterback Jaylen Griffin to wide receiver Marcus Johnson.

The Aggies got off to a quick start, scoring a touchdown on their first possession. Griffin threw a 50-yard pass to Johnson for the score. The Golden Eagles responded with a touchdown of their own in the second quarter, but the Aggies took a 14-7 lead into halftime.

The Golden Eagles tied the game in the third quarter on a touchdown run by Marcus Johnson. The Aggies then regained the lead in the fourth quarter on a field goal by kicker Tyler Jones.

The Golden Eagles had a chance to take the lead late in the game, but they were intercepted by Aggies defensive back Jalen Brown. The Aggies then drove down the field and scored the game-winning touchdown on a pass from Griffin to Johnson.

Griffin finished the game with 250 yards passing and two touchdowns. Johnson had 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

The Aggies will now advance to the semifinals of the 2023 AHSAA Football Playoffs – 4A. They will face the winner of the game between the Carver Yellowjackets and the Hillcrest Patriots.
