Matchups for the 2024 Broward County High School National Football Showcase were announced Monday with St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) vs. Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) and Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) set to headline the Aug. 22-24 event.
Coconut Creek, Cardinal Gibbons, Western and St. Thomas Aquinas high schools will all host games as part of what will likely be the biggest event of the 2024 season. Visit BrowardFoundation.org for ticketing and other information.
St. John Bosco is coming off an 11-2 season and No. 6 national ranking by MaxPreps. Head coach Jason Negro has to replace plenty of talent but expect the Braves to be back in the mix competing for a national championship in 2024. They are the only program in the country that has finished ranked in the MaxPreps Top 25 every season since 2014.
Chaminade-Madonna finished No. 2 after going 14-0 and welcomed marquee transfers Jabari Brady, Derrek Cooper, Koby Howard and Zac Katy.
Bishop Gorman – last year’s MaxPreps National Champion – faces St. Thomas Aquinas for the first time since its epic 25-24 triple overtime win in 2016. That win helped seal a national title for the Gaels. Gone are Micah Alejado, Audric Harris, Micah Kaapana, and Elija Lofton but the Las Vegas powerhouse is still loaded, especially on the offensive line with S.J. Alofaituli, Alai Kalaniuvalu and Douglas Utu.
St. Thomas Aquinas is fresh off its fifth consecutive state title and will be one of the best teams in the country in 2024.
