High school basketball rankings: Bullis rides 14-game win streak back into MaxPreps Top 25

No. 3 Plano East, No. 9 Wisconsin Lutheran and No. 18 Central Cabarrus are only unbeaten teams remaining in national rankings.

Bullis (Potomac, Md.) is the lone new entry in this week’s MaxPreps Top 25 high school basketball rankings. The Bulldogs, who replace Bishop O’Connell (Arlington, Va.), return to the rankings for the first time since early December after rattling off 14 consecutive wins.

All but three ranked teams are involved in postseason action.

The Washington Catholic Athletic Conference tournament and the CIF Southern Section Open Division title game between No. 6 Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) and No. 14 Roosevelt (Eastvale, Calif.) take center stage this week.

Only three nationally-ranked teams remain unbeaten – No. 3 Plano East (Plano, Texas), No. 9 Wisconsin Lutheran (Milwaukee, Wis.) and No. 18 Central Cabarrus (Concord, N.C.).

MaxPreps Top 25 basketball rankings

1. Columbus (Miami, Fla.)
Record: 23-4 | Last week: 1
Opened the Class 7A state tournament with a 92-28 triumph over Boca Raton paced by 24 points and 11 rebounds from five-star junior Cameron Boozer, who connected on all 10 field goal attempts. The two-time defending state champions take on Western (Davie) in the second round tonight.

2. Paul VI (Chantilly, Va.)
Record: 27-2 | Last week: 2
Completed Washington Catholic Athletic Conference regular season action unbeaten for the second consecutive year after knocking off DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) 63-50 and Bishop McNamara (Forestville, Md.) 84-38. The Panthers look to capture their second WCAC tournament title in the past three seasons this week.

3. Plano East (Plano, Texas)
Record: 34-0 | Last week: 3
Started Class 6A state tournament play with an 88-51 victory over Rock Hill paced by 16 points from senior guard Isaiah Brewington. The Panthers take on the winner of Highland Park (Dallas) vs. Haltom (Haltom City) in their second round matchup.

4. Myers Park (Charlotte, N.C.)
Record: 22-2 | Last week: 4
Closed out the regular season with a 77-39 victory over South Mecklenburg (Charlotte) paced by 16 points and six rebounds from four-star junior Sadiq White Jr. and 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals from four-star Notre Dame signee Sir Mohammed. The Mustangs face the winner of Palisades (Charlotte) vs. Berry (Charlotte) on Thursday in the SoMeck 4A Conference tournament.

5. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.)
Record: 24-3 | Last week: 5
Concluded the regular season slate with a 57-33 victory over Ramapo (Franklin Lakes) in the Bergen County Jamboree title game. Five-star Rutgers commit Dylan Harper led the way with 24 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win.

6. Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.)
Record: 29-3 | Last week: 7
Secured lopsided statement victories over No. 16 Sierra Canyon 72-38 and St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) 64-40 to advance to the CIF Southern Section Open Division title game against No. 14 Roosevelt on Friday. The Huskies have now avenged both in-state losses in postseason play.

7. Stony Point (Round Rock, Texas)
Record: 33-1 | Last week: 6
Began Class 6A state tournament action with a 78-62 victory over Bowie (Austin) guided by 20 points and seven rebounds from four-star Villanova signee Josiah Moseley.

8. Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.)
Record: 25-4 | Last week: 8
Wrapped up regular season action with victories over St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) 58-55 and Takoma Academy (Takoma Park, Md.) 87-54. The Eagles look to capture their first WCAC tournament championship since 2019 this week after finishing with a 13-2 record in conference play during the regular season.

9. Wisconsin Lutheran (Milwaukee, Wis.)
Record: 23-0 | Last week: 9
The Vikings look to close out the regular season unbeaten with a showdown against Whitnall (Greenfield) tomorrow night. Wisconsin Lutheran advanced to the Division 2 state quarterfinals last season and are heavy favorites to capture the crown this year.

10. St. Rose (Belmar, N.J.)
Record: 25-2 | Last week: 11
Captured the Shore Conference tournament championship with a 48-27 win against Manasquan. The Purple Roses were led by 19 points, 10 rebounds and three steals from four-star sophomore Jayden Hodge.

11. Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y.)
Record: 21-3 | Last week: 12
Ended the regular season with 15 consecutive wins following a loss to No. 10 St. Rose on Dec. 29. The Crusaders take on Monsignor Scanlan (Bronx) in the CHSAA AA tournament semifinals tonight.

12. Oak Ridge (Orlando, Fla.)
Record: 24-3 | Last week: 13
Tipped off Class 7A state tournament action with an 87-76 Osceola led by 18 points and eight assists from Georgia Southern commit Jordan Tillery. The Pioneers face Lake Worth in the second round tonight.

13. Grayson (Loganville, Ga.)
Record: 25-2 | Last week: 14
Claimed the program’s sixth consecutive Region 4 Class AAAAAAA championship with a 75-65 victory over Newton paced by 23 points and five rebounds from top 30 Georgia commit Jacob Wilkins. The Rams open their quest to capture the Class AAAAAAA state title against Colquitt County (Norman Park).

14. Roosevelt (Eastvale, Calif.)
Record: 30-2 | Last week: 15
Advanced to the CIF Southern Section Open Division title game with an 80-76 victory over Mater Dei (Santa Ana) in overtime led by 22 points and 11 rebounds from top 15 junior Brayden Burries. The Mustangs face off against No. 6 Harvard-Westlake in the title game on Friday.

15. McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.)
Record: 22-5 | Last week: 16
Captured the Region 3 Class AAAAAAA title with a 75-48 victory over Hillgrove. The Indians battle Westlake (Atlanta) in their opening round Class AAAAAAA state tournament contest tomorrow night.

16. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.)
Record: 27-3 | Last week: 10
Despite suffering a lopsided 72-38 loss to No. 6 Harvard-Westlake last week, the Trailblazers finished 2-1 in CIF Southern Section Open Division Pool Play after bouncing back with a 61-55 victory over Centennial (Corona). Sierra Canyon now awaits seeding for the Open Division state tournament.

17. Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.)
Record: 28-3 | Last week: 17
Advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division 1 title game with a 67-60 victory over Redondo Union (Redondo Beach) led by 23 points from four-star Houston signee Mercy Miller. The Knights look to capture their second consecutive Southern Section Division 1 title against Windward (Los Angeles) on Saturday.

18. Central Cabarrus (Concord, N.C.)
Record: 25-0 | Last week: 18
Blew past East Rowan (Salisbury) 105-29 in the first round of the South Piedmont Conference tournament to extend their winning streak to 57 games dating back to the start of last season. The Vikings are averaging 88.6 point per contest and have not scored less than 78 points in a game this season.

19. Kell (Marietta, Ga.)
Record: 23-3 | Last week: 19
Took home their second consecutive Region 6 Class AAAAA championship with an 83-54 victory over Chattahoochee behind 23 points, five steals and three assists from three-star USF signee C.J. Brown. The Longhorns begin Class AAAAA state tournament play with a matchup against Dalton tomorrow.

20. Jackson-Reed (Washington, D.C.)
Record: 32-2 | Last week: 20
Captured their fifth DCIAA title in the past seven seasons with a 66-52 victory over Cardozo in the championship game. The Tigers advance to the DCSAA Class AA state tournament with 19 consecutive victories.

21. Great Crossing (Georgetown, Ky.)
Record: 28-1 | Last week: 21
After notching a 72-59 victory over Blazer (Ashland) behind 20 points from junior guard Vince Dawson, Great Crossing looks to complete regular season action unbeaten against in-state opponents with a contest against Walton-Verona (Walton) tonight.

22. Winter Haven (Fla.)
Record: 25-1 | Last week: 22
Began Class 7A state tournament action with an 80-44 victory over Sumner paced by 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals from Yale commit Isaac Celiscar. The Blue Devils take on Durant (Plant City) in the second round tonight.

23. Salesian College Preparatory (Richmond, Calif.)
Record: 27-1 | Last week: 23
Following a 10-day layoff, the Pride return to the court tomorrow night to face San Ramon Valley (Danville) in the CIF Open Division North Coast Section semfinals.

24. De Pere (Wis.)
Record: 22-1 | Last week: 25
Knocked off a quality Pewaukee squad 81-67 led by a game-high 25 points from three-star Wisconsin commit Zach Kinziger. The Redbirds have two games remaining in the regular season.

25. Bullis (Potomac, Md.)
Record: 23-2 | Last week: NR
Re-join the rankings after completing regular season play with wins over St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Alexandria, Va.) 76-48 and St. Albans (Washington, D.C.) 82-37. The Bulldogs have won 14 straight since an overtime loss to No. 20 Jackson-Reed on Jan. 3.
