The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers are five days away from facing off Sunday at Super Bowl LVIII on CBS. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The game will feature plenty of players that flew under the radar when it came to recruiting. There will be a combined 21 players from both teams that were not rated coming out of high school.
San Francisco has 13 players that had zero stars led by Brandon Aiyuk, Javon Hargrave, Kyle Juszcyzk and Charvarius Ward. All four are impact starters for the NFC champs. Richie James, Mike Pennel and Tershawn Wharton headline the eight on Kansas City.
There were also some blue-chip recruits and this game will feature seven former five-stars. Mecole Hardman, Chris Jones, Wanya Morris and Trey Smith are the four on the AFC champs. All three of the 49ers are starters on the defensive line in Arik Armstead, Nick Bosa and Chase Young.
Super Bowl LVIII will feature a combined 29 four-star recruits. Willie Gay, Creed Humphrey, George Karlaftis, Trent McDuffie and Donovan Smith headline the 15 on Kansas City. Aaron Banks, Jauan Jennings, Javon Kinlaw, Christian McCaffrey and Fred Warner are among the 14 on San Francisco.
There are 48 former three-star recruits and it includes both starting quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes headlines the 25 on the Chiefs. Some other notable three-stars include Nick Bolton, Isiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice and L’Jarius Sneed. Brock Purdy is joined by Dre Greenlaw, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams as one of 23 former three-stars on San Francisco.
Seven players were two-star recruits coming out of high school. Nine-time Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce headlines the four on Kansas City. Elijah Mitchell, Jaylon Moore and Willie Snead are the three on the 49ers.
The star rankings are based off 247Sports composite rankings. Players currently on injured reserve are not included.
