Cummings High School football player Mailk Mebane collapsed as he was walking to a practice and passed away

Football player Mailk Mebane of Cummings High School died after collapsing while making his way to practice, according to a report by HighSchoolOT’s.

Mebane, a Cummings student in the tenth grade, was reportedly given CPR by an athletic trainer before being transported to a neighboring hospital, where the Alamance-Burlington School System claimed he was declared dead.

According to the story, the Alamance-Burlington School System issued a statement regarding Mebane’s passing.

This awful loss has left our District and the school community heartbroken. Malik Mebane was a member of our community, an athlete, and a student. Our district is dedicated to helping our youngsters start to process and deal with their loss. Our school has a group of counselors and support personnel available to assist our pupils during this trying time. While we continue to pray for Malik’s family and friends, we would want to express our gratitude to the community for their outpouring of love and support for the school and our children.”
