GMC Girls Volleyball Player of the Year, Stat Leaders, and Final Ranking, 2023

Old Bridge’s Ashley Markle Named Player of the Year

Old Bridge High School freshman Ashley Markle has been named the Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC) Girls Volleyball Player of the Year for 2023. Markle led the GMC with 296 kills, 137 digs, and 50 aces this season. She was also a key player for Old Bridge in the playoffs, helping the Knights reach the GMC championship game.

Markle is the first freshman to be named GMC Player of the Year since 2017. She is a versatile player who can play all six positions on the court. She is also a strong leader and a role model for her teammates.

“Ashley is a special player,” Old Bridge coach Jackie Lollo said. “She is talented, hardworking, and a great teammate. She is also a very smart player who knows the game and makes everyone around her better.”

In addition to Markle, several other players had outstanding seasons for their teams. Sienna Socha-Soares of Howell led the GMC with 525 assists, while Bria Morgan of Lenape led the league with 120 blocks.
